hey guys. i'm really confused
ive been researching a lot and i dunno which to get
my budget is 0<x<200
ive seen some bose, phyko, senheisers, audio technicas, koss, etcccc
and ive heard the hd212 pros are super good for bass music, but i dont know
some say it has too much bass lol but that's good to me bass=good
can someone put me in some direction
im leaning to the hd 212 pros
can someone please top those because it's a little low priced for my budget and i wanna get something that will max my budget and the performance as well!!
my music preference is trancey, techno stuff, so basically a lot of bass.
and i would prefer if it was true 5.1 surround sound not emulated 5.1
thanks for the help guys
i know this may be like the 100th post of the same subject and i'm sorry for this
thanks for any help in advance!!!

what do you mean "true 5.1 surround sound" ??

headphones are stereo, period.

off the cuff, I'd suggest M-Audio Q40's, Denon D1000's, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's, Audio-Technica A500's, etc

and use the remaining ~$100 for an amplifier to drive them

when i mean true 5.1 that means each ear has 5 speakers. emulated 5.1 surround sound is just a speaker emitting sound that sounds like 5.1. i hope that wasn't confusing :\

Do you know what 5.1 sound actually is?

It stands for 6 channel audio reproduction, or five TOTAL speakers, and is used for home theatre and cinema theatre systems with actual loudspeakers, not headphones

stereo audio, which is what headphones use, has 2 channel audio reproduction, or two speakers, and is used for music reproduction (as probably 95% of all music today is mastered in stereo, with 2.5% of the remainder being old mono mixes that refuse to die and 2.5% being SACD or DVDA discs remastered to 5.1 or 6.1 (which cannot be reproduced by headphones))

none of the headphones you've listed are "5.1", they are stereo headsets, just like every headphone I've suggested, and every headphone you're likely to be suggested

if you'd like to learn about multi-driver headphones, theres a fairly current discussion here:
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/mul...dphone-406078/

although the most you'll get is parabolics, and they're vintage (meaning old, hard to find, and some of them will be hard to drive)

so yes, your statement is confusing, as it makes me wonder if you're really sure of what you're asking about

This does not exist.

Try Ultrasone...

any of them given your budget, whle there are 'phones with MUCH more bass available, they easily exceed your budget (Denon AH-D2000/5000, Kenwood KH-K1000, JVC/Victor HP-DX1000, Beyerdynamic DT-770 / DT-880 / DT-990, Ultrasone HFI-2200 (and others I'm sure), and so on))

the HD 280 Pro's have a decent sound for electronic music, especially if mated with a proper amplifier, the same is true for the Q40's and D1000's

of those, the HD 280 is the cheapest and due to its isolation, likely to have the most impact

honestly I'd suggest you go and audition some of these, try a local pro audio shop

it does exist, but it's a crock of ****. For bass/trance/techno generic responses here seem to be the AD700/D2000/DT770 80 pro
edit: lolbassisfornoobs

goes back to awaiting the arrival of my 770/80s

is the ad700 is better than the ATH-A500 in bass performance?

Just get the Senn HD212 or the HD485(open) and spend the rest on bubblegum.

They are actually referred as "5.1" headphones...

Wasn´t ultrasone developing some 4.1 (I think 4 drivers in total in two ears)? What happened to that?

Otherwise this is the wrong forum to ask about such a thing it´s like asking which bose headphone you want I suspect thus all these elitistics remark . I can´t recommend any 5.1 headphones for you either . I just didn´t find they give me a better 5.1 effect then stereo headphones... But if you want a 3d perception of music I would go with some Ultrasones. The Prolines anyway are superb with bass as well so you would certainly get that.

DT 770 PRO is really nice for Trance as well and is a bit cheaper... But you do get what you pay for.

my mate actually bought a headphone described as 5.1 (so "5 in each ear" - just like what he is looking for) and he openned it and showed me. Had 3 loud speakers in each ear. Hardly 5.1.
tbh, I think he wants phone with good positioning, and afaik the 770 has good positioning. as for getting what you pay for, they are sky's favourite phones
