Best power conditioner for headphone amps - Page 2

I'm in one of those houses from the 70's, but I'm pretty sure its copper wiring (although I don't doubt some don't)

I got a Tripp-Lite TC-1200 for $9 at a local thrift store (figured I could scav it for parts, worst case), put it in before my VAC-1 and it seemed to lower the noisefloor a bit, now, I wouldn't pay whatever $150-$200 Tripp-Lite wants for this thing new, but for $9, amazing upgrade

That's some of the best advice I've read here.

Amazing price. I probably need a unit with AVR. Might be getting a AVR only thing for around 40, since the rest of the power conditioners with AVR are usually rated for much more powerful stuff (home theatre/ speaker systems) and priced accordingly. Whereas my headphone gear doesn't draw anywhere near that much power

yeah, I know where you're at LostOne, I remember eyeing some Monster and Belkin units with AVR, $300-$1200, but they're also able to handle like 15-20A continous throughput

this little Tripp-Lite is rated to 10 or 12A (which is still massive overkill for an hp amp), the part I find ironic, its marketed for computer use...an SMPS shouldn't need AVR sitting between it and the wall (unless you've got some major voodoo going on in those walls)

There in lies the problem and the solution. Spend the money on having an electrician add a dedicated homerun 20amp circuit with no joints to a new receptacle or receptacles in your listening/media room. Best upgrade I ever made.

The Audience power gear is getting all the press these days but very spendy. Luv my old MIT Z boxes. They are passive filters and work very well. Check audiogon. There were several Z centers there last time I looked.
