Sennheiser HD800 Updates!!! - Page 26

This was addressed earlier in the thread. It was stated that part of the curve should have no place when comparing what it takes to drive a headphone.

HD 800 should be somewhat efficient from what I've heard about it and learned about headphone developing. No matter how you turn it however I would surely regard a high quality amp as most for the pure ohm dynamics and cost/quality of these phones. Not saying cost has anything to do with headphones but it surely has something to do with whether you could afford an amp or not.

they were as tough to drive or tougher than the 650s. So they should and did sound great on a so so amp but I am betting will scale well with top flight amps.

I'll try it on my iAudio7 which can drive the K 701 pretty well.

My disappointment comes from ordering in Jan (#7 on the list) with an expected ship date late Feb/Early march, then it slipped to March/April, then it became late April, and now it is sometime in May.

I hate to say this but at this point I am "almost" hoping it is in June after CanJam so I can cancel my order if I don't like what I hear there vs Stax O2 (which I already have and love). The other part of me wants the HD800 here tomorrow, hence I remain #7 on the list for now.

I too am in the same boat, I wanna have both the HD800 and PS1k, would've ordered the PS1K first had I known about dates. Also, conversely to HPAddict, I am hoping the HD800s are good enough to make me sell my Omega system , cancel Blue Hawaii, and save some big bucks. But like those guys I fear I will still want to keep both systems in the end.

Not too happy about the continued silence by Senn, but I'm still crossing my fingers that this means they'll at least increase production numbers.

The longer I wait, the more tempted I am to switch my order to a PS1000.

Yes me too regardless if it is an "apples and oranges". I did not realize the + 1K headphone catagory was further stratified

I have owned every high end Grado for the last 4 years and I've had the Sen 650's with about 5 different cables. I am sure there are other people who will be getting both once their wallets allow.

John Willett from Sennheiser says production has finally started, and should ship to distributors in a few weeks.
^Not exactly. According to Willett, they are shipping the first batch in a few days...

It's official. Todd informed me that Sennheiser called him and said they won't be shipping until June.

Yup, June. Late June. I'll add the late just because I want to.

Also, I recoment my post in the main thread here.

Tyll,
From now on you should add "+1 month" to your estimates since Sennheiser obviously has no REAL date to give us. It's not fair what Sennheiser is doing to you guys, placing the brunt of responsibility on you to inform us. They need to come on here personally and address the matter, whatever the reason is. If there are problems sourcing materials, let us know. If there is something wrong with the product, let us know. If a semi ran into their facility, let us know. I'm sure you agree.
