Is Nintendo Wii Really Worth It? - Page 2

Nintendo's business practice on Wii consoles annoys the heck out of me so I personally try to stay away from it.

Yes, we have a Wii, and, no, it's not mine.

You made the right choice... yet another Wii collecting dust over here :P

Personally my wii is collecting dust, unless you are obsessed with specific games on the wii that are not available on other consoles, then id say get it otherwise id stick to a 360 or ps3.
Personally speaking the selection of games for the wii is geared a bit more towards children.

Though, if you've got a 360, it might be worth the Wii just for when you have an RROD like I just did last night. :/

Looks like I might be one of the few people who actively play with my Wii and don't let it collect dust. I enjoy vegging out to some Excite Truck or Boom Blox when I'm bored and I enjoy games like Metroid Prime Corruption that take full advantage of the motion controller, and games like No More Heroes that are just outright entertaining. The long time between new games doesn't really bother me either because I am not one of those people who clears a game in under a week, gets bored of it and demands something new.

Indeed, you pretty much game on borrowed time. I know a few people that have a spare for the swap periods

great fun although short lived, and that was with all the best will in the world, as a nintendo fan boi of old.

I still play guitar hero world tour on mine, almost every day. i had to give my friends keys to my apartment since they lve playing so much.

Metroid prime, resident evil 4 (though ported from n64 i think), zelda, and I don't know how many parties of wii sports all made my wii worthwhile. Even got my friends (most of them girls) to enjoy the two-on-two mode of madden, using gestures, another former party favorite.

And i still haven't played the mario games or smash brothers. There's more life in this system yet.

I played wii several times. My impression is that you cannot excercise with that thing and if you want to play games, buy a PS3 or a XBox.

Good decision on skipping the Wii. Even though it's cheap, they have maybe 3 or 4 games that are worth playing, while PS3 and more so XBox have 50+.

I'll echo most of the comments above. A Wii is good for parties but if you're more of a 'normal' gamer, a PS3 or a 360 is better. I have a PS3 and a Wii and I'll bet it's been a year since I played the Wii. The PS3 gets used every 2-3 days for games and almost more often for Blu-Ray/DVD. I'm actually thinking of buying a 360 to use to stream Netflix to my TV.

Not to steal the thread but is the RROD still an issue with the newer chipsets in the 360?

To be more precise, it's probably been a year since I played the Wii on my own.

Haha

yep, I have to agree. Having a wii is great with roommates or if you always have a bunch of people around. On your own.. I'd rarely play it. (maybe just to unlock stuff for mario kart and smash)
