I demand the Lisa III be moved to the portable amp forum!!!

OK...so perhaps 'demand' is too strong a word

As it stands, the Lisa III is listed in the Full Sized/Desktop section of the forum which IMHO...breaks up one's ability to research portables thoroughly. It's also a disservice to Triad and the Lisa as it likley loses some of the exposure it would get by being in the propper section.

I know that the Lisa is the biggest of the portable bunch...but it's still quite portable by many folks standards. And even if you are firm that it should be called a transportable at best...I still believe that it should be listed in the portable section.

I know that many feel that the Lisa is too big to be considered a true portable...but you have to admit it's too small to be considered full sized. All I suggest is that you remove your bias about what may be portable to you...and judge the amp on it's realistic ability to be portable for many.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Lisa was built with the intention of it being used as a portable...and most of it's users likely use it as such...so keeping all reviews and threads about the amp in the portable section would just make more sense.

Anyway...just a mini rant as I just got my Lisa III a short while ago and am really loving it. What an amazing little (yes, little) amp that packs an amazing punch. I carry mine easily in my coat pocket...but most of the time I keep it in my briefcase or backpack...just as I did when my setup was powered by a Hornet.

So give this one some thought Head-Fi....I think when push comes to shove...it's clear that the Lisa is more portable than desktop, and should be given the same air time in that section of the site.

Well, it does run on battery.

I support this notion as well. IMO any amp or DAC that's battery powered and can still be transported around in a bag or jacket pocket should be considered as a portable device.

Hey, tons of people have no issues lugging around over 1KG (sometimes over 2KG) of DSLR, why not a transportable rig?

Try 35 pounds or about 16kg while in the field for photo gear.

I agree that the Lisa III should be considered portable. I don't even like the term transportable( = easily moved) here. Either it's portable or it's not. JMO.

It can be powered by batteries.
It's smaller than my Philips 10" PDVDP which I often carry around.

And if internal batteries can get something termed portable then this beast is portable!! If I can carry it up onto a roof then it is portable to me.

I am not a Lisa owner, but it is on my "to be considered" list, and compared to other gear I treat as portable--laptop, camera, books--it certainly qualifies as portable. Admittedly, when I have no case of any sort with me, the Mustang is about as good as it gets, but with any kind of carrying capacity, and especially a backpack, the Lisa seems pretty portable to me.

Seems that I am not alone in my thoughts!

Again...the main point is not whether you or I consider it portable according to our preferences...rather if the unit itself should be classified as such as compared to the other option.

IMHO...there is no debating that the Lisa III should be referrenced in the portable section. Saying that is far from being unreasonable.

i too find it odd that the LISA thread resides in the desktop section..

I agree

You read my mind RIDE!!!

I hate always having to go to the desktop forum and search LISA...where is the moderator when you need them!

Fix it, please!

absolutely!!!! I use it for both purposes; but if I were to have to put in one category then portable would be it for sure. I too find it can go in a jacket pocket but usually have it in my bag because of the size of the rest of my rig.

there used to be mobile phones that are larger than the lisa is and 'ghetto blasters' were considered portable. I second the notion. although as there is no transportable section; perhaps it should be allowed in both sections; as it fills both duties for many.

It's even pocketable.

I tried hard to think of a reason....but for the life of me could not come to a reasonable reason why it's segregated from the other portables.

Even the XP version...which I believe is twice as thick and twice as heavy...should still be considered portable.

Anyway...glad to hear that I am not alone in my thinking!

A LISA III desktop version is coming soon though. I agree it should be moved into portable amps for discussion, I'm kind of tired of everyone saying that it is drives the HD650 to its top potential. I had it, really loved it, but that is not true.
