I got these straight from Japan via Tenso right as Dsnuts got the hype train rolling last fall. Bought 3 pairs, of which I gave one to a colleague (yes, they are so inexpensive you can just give...
Reposting my original review from Amazon.com - these headphones are just too good to be left in the dustbin of history - for instance, I just bought a pair of Monoprice MEP-933, listed everywhere...
Somehow, the Ballad of Jed Clampett comes to mind, as I start to write this. You know, the Beverly Hillbillies. He was living his life, struck gold, and everything changed. That's kind of what...
Hi, Head-fiers. This is my first post as a newbie in the forum.
I will give a short introduction of myself. I am 18 years old currently studying in high-school. I love headphones because...
No problem. Just by looking at the specs between the two, do you think they are comparable, or possible the LD is better? I just don't know enough about this stuff yet.
like you i know very little about the tech side of things. but having owned a LD amp, in the past, i will say the company did impress me.
I'm really curious to see what it will use for the output stage (Discrete vs OPAMP). Hopefully if it uses an OPAMP it's socketed to make for easy rolling, would be very interesting to see a comparison between the Compass and this with an HDAM if that's the case.
What are socketed opamps and what's the big deal about them?
Socketed opamps allow you to roll opamps like you would roll tubes in a tube amp; basically you can buy different opamps and put them in in place of the stock ones to tune the sound to your liking.

I get it just like the Zero or the Compass which you can switch different HDAM opas.
The only downside to opamps is, for the most part they don't have as good SQ as a good discrete circuit. They usually draw less power and use less space though.
The case for the DAC looks like the same one as the MKV, which was a pain to roll opamps with.

But I would say the case would be much less crowded, unless it also has two transformers in it like the MKV.
