UPCOMING Little Dot DAC - Page 6

Can the USB get 24/96 ?
And, how is the USB implemented? and what will be final price?
After reading this and seeing pictures, it is really making me want to wait for this instead of getting a DACMagic, but no pricing info and no expected release date is KILLING ME!

Yeah that comparison will be pretty key in my purchase decision.

The thing is being starting to be shipped in late april. LD have updated info on the product with a new thread containing specs and real pictures of the thing in action. Check it out!

Hi guys– first post here on Head-fi for me.

Can anyone give a guess at the price of this thing?

I'm looking to buy my first DAC for connecting my Macbook Pro to my JVC Amp and JBL bookshelf speakers. I recently bought the Pro-Ject Debut 3 record player, and I love it. The problem is now that when I listen to music on the computer it sounds so lifeless! I've EQed myself to death, so I've began reading through these forums for a good DAC in my budget. I didn't want to create a "which DAC for me?" thread because I thought you guys would be a bit sick of that, haha. I like the sound of the Cambridge DACmagic and I like the price of the Valab Nos DAC. The Moodlab Concept looks really nice, but not as popular as these two. The tiny USB Pico made by one of you guys on the forum sounds awesome too. But this Little Dot DAC just looks superb, has the features I'm keen on, so I might hold off till this is released before I buy. (also the longer I wait the more money I'll have–in theory)

David said it will be $269 + shipping. Very cheap for a balanced DAC, even after shipping (+$45 to US). (from Viewing a thread - Little Dot DAC_I decoder prototype finish)

I know this is a moot point because it isn't out yet, but do you guys think this will be better than the V-DAC? I will be only using it for USB and I don't know enough about the SPECS to be able to tell a huge difference.

Any assistance is appreciated.

at nearly twice the v-dac price it ought to be better!
but a v-dac with uprated psu may be a different story.
i intend to buy the LD, but not until i have seen plenty of + feedback.
until then the v-dac will do!

How do you figure it is twice the price? I cannot find a V-DAC new for anything under $299 and one used here for $270. The Little Dot DAC is only $265 + $45 in shipping?

sorry mate my mistake i thought i read price ,somewhere, as being £299 instead of $299
my eyes aint what they used to be

i may gamble on one myself now .

No problem. Just by looking at the specs between the two, do you think they are comparable, or possible the LD is better? I just don't know enough about this stuff yet.

I WANT ONE!

Specs probably won't matter much it will depend on what people have to say about the sound.

looks promising! Only downside is that it seems to be offering a large number of features for that price and i am not a fan of small numbers of (cycling?) buttons. Let's hope it goes well!
