my new dj1 quick review

just got the new (not the older) ultrasone dj1s from guitar center. it was $167 including tax. i think it's a pretty good deal considering the cheapest i could find online was $169 shipped. i really like the flexibility. the patented s-logic plus surround is AMAZING. it came with a cd where you can actually hear it play and use the feature. i tested it with my AKG K27i and the difference is huge. even so, i don't think this will help at all during DJing. my biggest complaint about this pair is bass isn't great. i usually play hiphop and cranking up some hiphop music with lots of bass, i would say it's bass is just average. isolation is good, weight is good, comes with a nice cloth bag too. overall, if these last me couple years...i would say its def worth it. hope they don't break!

You know, these Ultrasones might benefit from burn in. 2 to 4 days of continuous play might bring out more bass.

At Northern Sound & Light, I just read the recommended burn in for the DJ1 is 4 to 8 hours. So I'd say burn it in with some bass heavy music for at least that long.

Maybe the bass need more burn in time, or there is some distortion in your system...
