My cable test enterprise
Feb 1, 2009 at 1:42 AM Post #78 of 438
I went to my A/V dealer and asked him about cables. He let me listen to a few sets in his store on a room display. He then let me take home a stranded and solid copper, silver coated copper and solid silver cables. The deal was I bought a cable from him instead of going to the internet. A fair deal to me since I could actually hear before buying. I ended up with silver coated copper ribbon ICs. Wasn't wanting to spend $300 on ICs but I wasn't going back to a stranded copper cable again.

No I don't want to send mine over but if you want help, you have to offer something in kind. If enough people are interested, a collection can be done to pay for renting a few sets from his display rigs over the time the store is closed. That way the vendor isn't loosing product value and you are using cables with some time on them. It should be discussed with the store owner/manager, not a sales rep.

Thanks,
You can read about it and even more of the pics here -

Seems like it may be pertinent to this experiment. Be sure to read nicks and my discussions as it may lead to an epiphany.

I believe in cables, to me they are all different and work different with different gear. And yes both guns are loaded! LOL!

So far I have given up ~$147 (10% of my monthly take home pay) , approximately 12 hours of my time on tests with at least another 4 scheduled for further tests. You will pardon me if I am starting to feel this is a bit one sided...

It's a great test and sounds like it is fastidiously done. Thanks for taking the time to do it a post the results!

I feel though you are approaching it from a skeptical position, though this will not alter the test results.

Proper scientific testing is always approached from a skeptical viewpoint and it looks like the OP has done a good job with it, the data does the speaking not preconceived beliefs. Big thumbs up for taking the time to do this.

Nick, I'll send you my .5m pair of Zu Oxyfuel RCA if you would like to test them. They retail for $139. I'm not using them at the moment.
