I am using the rear sockets, and am hearing the noises through both speakers and headphones. I tried muting the microphone and all over inputs and outputs etc, no help.

I realise you have tested it, but what is your setup? Do you have a GPU that whines?

I just received my Xi-Fi Forte 7.1 today. As expected, the length of the card extends right up to the RAM slots for the adjacent PCI-EX1 slot and I have to use the other PCI-EX1, but otherwise everything worked right off the bat and no whine or other negative effects. I don't yet have decent headphones so I haven't really heard what it can do...but I like it. I've ordered the AD900s.

I'm hearing my GPU through mine as well, and I'm using the digital out (routing stereo to the digital output, so through the X-fi chip). It's fine though if my browser is closed, but definitely hear it with a browser open, or in a game.

In my case I'm hearing variable buzzes and clicks, very low in tone in the background, that correspond to to scrolling a web page, etc. The card is picking up interference from my GPU (8800 GTS 512), probably on the PCI-e bus if you've already tried shielding it. I wonder if the Titanium has this as well?

Although my home PC with the Forte has no whine, my PC at work (DELL 490) with onboard sound does have it. Every time I scroll in the web browser I hear a buzz/whine. i found this very old thread https://www.rage3d.com/board/showthr...p?p=1332429060 and I was surprised that disabling Smooth Mouse Scrolling in internet options actually fixed it. I don't understand why, but I'm happy it did.

Many times, if you have your recording inputs "floating" -left enabled with no signal conencted they are very sensitive to any noise. Mute your recording inputs, excpet the ones your actually using at the time.

This is also another reason to hear that weird mouse noise, as the card is picking up noise form the system bus.

I checked over the drivers, and make sure the FP Microphone is disabled as this one is probably the culprit for picking up noise formthe system or Graphics card as that long cable runs right through your rig (if your using it) and if left enabled the input is conencted to a amplifier to boot!.

Check and see if this is disabled..

Do you know why this card is cheaper than the Prelude?

Has anybody compared it, with the Prelude?

The forte, is not really meant as competition for the PRelude. More as a little brother aimed at people who need SFF or PCI-E X1.

Well, If you have been following the developments then you know Auzen is releasing another card the X-FI Home theater HD 7.1. I would think that is the next flagship model inthe line-up.

I am a reviewer though.

This is one thing that worries me about PCI E cards and seems rightly so... the PCI E slots is always right next to the GPU or other units. I have my Elite PRO well away from anything else in my computer and coupled with high quality PSUs I never get hissing and such no matter what card I run

Ah, ok. Maybe Auzen has a bit of a branding issue ultimately. I considered the Forte a full featured card, I didn't know that it was a niche item, even though its small form factor seems to identify it as something less than a Prelude. Maybe a full specification review shows it as a inferior product to the Prelude, I don't know.

I never said the card was inferior to the Prelude, What I mean is the Forte is not the new flagship model. This is a supplemeatry card to the Prelude meant for those that need SFF or PCI-E. The Forte sounds amazing based on my tests to this point.
