Celine Dion samples Mahler?

It occurred to me tonight when listening to "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" by Celine Dion that there's actually a sample of the opening of Mahler's resurrection symphony in the first 50 seconds. Very strange how I've never heard this pointed out.

YouTube - Gustav Mahler - Symphony No.2 "Resurrection" 1st movement 1/2

YouTube - Celine Dion - It's All Coming Back To Me Now [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]

The sample is most obvious at 47 seconds into the celine dion song.

You're funny. Why are you listening to Celine Dion anyway?

I've never made it past 7 seconds of a Celine Dion song. Sorry, can't (won't) help.

A girl i used to date likes that song, and she asked me to listen to it.

Gustav and Celine look like they're around the same age.

Your inclusiveness of all music never ceases to amaze me.

I listened to that Celine Dion song many years ago in my high school days. Watching that YouTube clip brings back memories.

But darn it ... the similarity in both opening is just eerie....

Has anyone ever heard, Rock Me Amadeus?

Dear All,

am new to this forum and proud to post my first contribution.

Obviously, this is the beginning of Gustav Mahlers 2. symphony, thanks a lot for this remark.

I'm not a fan of Celine Dion, but she has an impressive voice - and to use the opening of the resurrection for a song,

nice idea!

By the way: I read that some people were inspired by Gustav Mahler - for example Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother.

Does anyone of you know further adaptions of Gustav Mahler's symphonies in 'modern' music?

Modern in quotes, because Gustav Mahler is quite modern

Kind regards, Frank
