Holy ****!! $30 for 200 list price headphones - Page 2

I have real ES7's and they sound amazing for a nice pair of portable cans. They're not quite as good as their full-size brethren but I'm using them daily over my SR-80's. I think they have great color but others dislike them because it's not entirely neutral. You also don't need an amp, although they sound good with an amp.

The cabling does have me a little worried - it's kinda thin. But it sound great, so I'm not going to bother replacing them until/unless they break.

You wont find a real one for under $100 ^ ^

The Rule: You Pay For What You Get~
True. However, the real ES7's, which cost over $100 street price, are also made in China. Quality control is the key: The real ES7's are made by a Chinese manufacturer under strict quality control guidelines from Audio Technica, while the fakes are manufactured by an unauthorized, unlicensed manufacturer. The biggest differences between the fakes and the real thing are not just the sound (the fakes sound more or less like stock Walkman headphones inside a larger closed shell), but also the fit and finish (in particular, the fakes feel chintzy).
