I dunno about others, but in a day or two I am getting a PK1 and will surely recabled it similarly to my ER-4S, with Solid Core 5N Pure Silver & Mundorf Solders.

Yup, I know a head-fi member who has his PK1s recabled w/ KSC75 wires. I won't say who as I want to buy them if I'm not completely satisfied with the OK1s I should be receiving

RWA Imod 5g 80gb black> ALO LOD > DIY Mundorf Oil Cap > Undecided on the amp > UE - 11 PINK

pink rocks =D

It is hard for me to think of a better rig than what I have. Maybe I would replace my 120 classic with a 160 classic.

X2

And its a toss between the ED9 or ED8. Can't wait for reviews once the production units of the ED8 hit the head-fiers.

iMod->Best custom Lod->iBasso D2 -> Another amazing LOD -> Predator->UE11 OR Triple Fi

I'd request a 16gb Sansa Clip with a Mirco SD card slot, the clip would have an alloy body with matt black finish. The front face would be made of scratch resistant material with a little else changed. I'd add support for gapless play back and stuff a 16gb car into the slot.

As for IEM's I'd go for UE11's - Little else would be added, this would be my ultimate portable set-up.

hmmmmm well let me see

see my transportable rig but add R10 for option 1
DIYMOD 5.5G->Uber piccolino t6eflon VCAP dock->lisa III->R10 (but my new woody MD2000 with jena recable will do for the moment

for option 2 which i'm currently working on
120gb iRiver H120 (with 120gb or 240gb drive if firmware allows)->sysoptical U bend->gamma1->Lisa III->woody MD2000 with jena re-cable or in a dream land R10 Piccolino re-cable

i'm actually considering trying to integrate the gamma1 and a battery pack into my VCAP dock, using the VCAPs in the output stage. not sure if this is possible, i'll have to run the numbers

Sony PCM-D50 plus a couple of MSDPs, and a pair of ER-4S, that is the ticket to heaven ;-)

Ipod Classic -->RSA SR-71-->Triple Fis

I'm hoping this'll be the ticket for me when the new amp and Triple Fis show up.

this ought to be a custom NAGRA player (remember they've made field recorders that are transportable for a long time - but here you'd go with a HD), with included state of the art DAC and a nice amp; and for a custom pair of cans, perhaps I might suggest AUDEZ'E or something like that. since cost is no object, you'd also have NAGRA build in a next-gen battery, maybe even with solar charging or whatever, while keeping the weight of this DAP down.

I would keep my Sansa Fuze along with its LOD,as I feel its a decent source, the amp would be an RSA Protector and the IEM's would be JH15's with balanced cable from Whiplash Audio.

As source I would use a netbook... maybe one of those super slim Sony Vaio P series. Reviews have been a mish mash, but you can't beat that tiny form factor.

While not exactly up to a topicstarter's specs (i.e. not currently in production), this may be the ticket:

1. iriver h140 (modded, with bigger hdd and new battery) as a transport
2. Sonosax SX-DA2 portable professional DAC\headphone amp. This is a rare beast but still can be bought somewhere for like $1500 new \ $500-800 used. This is a swiss-made, nagra-class pro gear.
3. Ultrasone Ed8
4. Belt case or e-Holster modular gadget holster for carrying it around

Another possibility would be currently manufactured Sound Devices 722 HDD recorder (supports FLAC).
