Hello.
First, I want to say that while this isn't my first post, I'm a relatively new member to Head-Fi, which is fantastic & has the potential to be a devastatingly expensive forum. It's fantastic because I've learned so much. I would probably have a few more posts, but many of my questions have been answered by my use of the search function. It's expensive because I've already spent (IHMO) more money than I originally intended on 2 transportable/portable rigs. (Of course, this excludes the case for the DAP & the case to keep the transportable rig together.) Unfortunately for me, I may be spending a bit more.
Second, I could probably conduct a few more searches, but I'd like to take the time to say hello & post a thread.
I recently bought the ATH-M50, a studio monitor. It suits me well - I like the sound, fit, & looks - but I've been reading many threads on the ESW9 (& ESW10JPN). I'm now curious. The M50 has a driver size of 45mm. The ESW9 has a driver size of 42mm. How does this affect the presentation of the sound? (Without knowing for sure, I assume it may be similar to the difference in an 8" subwoofer & a 10" or 12" subwoofer?) Can anyone provide comments on their experience with these 2 HPs?
I guess the best way to find out is to try the ESW9, but, at the moment, I can't find a place near me that will allow for auditions.
Anyway, thanks in advance!
P.S. - Yes, I can already hear the "size" jokes from around the corner.....
