HD800 vs AH-D7000

Thread Starter
How do they compare? Is the HD800 a significant jump or just a matter of preference over the AH-D7000?

Many preferred the sound of the denons (2000, 5000, 7000) over the sennheisers (600, 650). Will the new HD800 put sennheiser back on the top over the denons?

Any comments?

We really need a moratorium on HD800 threads until they actually ship, this is getting old.

Answer to OP: Nobody knows.

For 20 minutes, not exactly an audition, and certainly they weren't compared side by side.

"nobody knows," interesting movie. HD800 is pretty rare right now, but even then, don't know how many people out there have the d7000. Doesn't seem like that common a headphone. This might be one of the harder comparisons to have made.

Not another HD800 thread...
Just a handful people around here have hear it, and it will be 5-6 weeks or so before it reach the first customers. Hence nobody relaly know how they compare against other 'phones.

Kai are you getting someone to make a 4 pin cable for you? GL finding one by the time your headphones arrive pabbi1 is going to blow an artery trying to find one. AFAIK you don't have a non XLR output amp, would suck to get shiny new HD800 and not be able to play them

No worries!
My β22 have 1x 4-pin XLR, 2x 3-pin XLR and 2x 1/4" TRS, so until I find a balanced cable the HD800 will run single ended.

I easily preferred the stock HD650 to a modded D5000 - so I know which horse my bets are on.

That's why DIY amps are AWESOME. You've got all the connectors you need.

The name of the thread makes me laugh for some reason...

Someone needs at least a day on their own equipment at home to evaluate the HD800.

I own both ... Me too, I prefer BY FAR the HD650 recabled Equinox to the AH-D5000 modded.
