SOLD: Promethius NOS DAC w/upgrades

Own 5 DAC's, so clearing one out. Considered selling a couple before, but now it's for real

This is a very nice NOS DAC, uses output transformers and has the best sound I've heard from NOS. As with many NOS designs, bass is great, mids are smooth and analog-like; but this unit has better highs than what 've heard in the past from NOS units. Though to be fair, I haven't heard the higher end MHDT lab's stuff. Manufacturer Link

My unit has some internal parts upgrades (caps & resistors), plus I paid $65 for shipping. It is in excellent functional condition, but has a couple scratches, on top and back (see pics; the one on top was "professionally" covered using a Sharpie and is a lot better looking than in the bright light of the flash).

Included are the unit itself, info sheet/manual, basic power cord, and 3 wood footers.

My price is $400 shipped in US. Paypal OK, no fees. See my feedback linked below, or on Audiogon as chams_uk.

Thanks,

Todd - skullguise

Pics:

Front - unit is darker color, the flash brings out more of thre red in the wood

Minor scratch/mark in back (above the RCA's on left)

Couple minor scratches on top, plus sharpied scratch

Bump. One of these just sold on A'gon for $425 + PP fees, and I don't think it had the upgrades.

I'll likely list it there eventually, but would rather see it go to a Head-Fi'er or AV123'er (where I also have it listed).

Ugh, someone buy this so I don't have to keep looking at something I want so badly but can't have.

Wish I had seen this sooner. Well, I would have had the name been spelled correctly. Just in case someone searches for a Promitheus DAC, this is that Promitheus DAC. Will teach me not to search so literally.

Sorry, Todd, couldn't resist. In fairness, I am not sure I would have bought it, since I am having Nicholas build me a balanced one with copper plates and the nano core transformer. But still , I would have liked to have found it.

D'oh!! You got me big time. I was SO sure there was an "i" in there, just stupidly put it in the wrong place.

In any case, you wouldn't want this one....the buyer and I are looking into an issue where a minor hum in my system (with volume at ~3 o'clock) is a noticable hum and a kind of whining noise in his system! So if it can't be resolved, it's coming back my way....

I hope you have better luck with your unit....these DO sound really great when they are working 100%!
