ahhh i see, of course - where were you when i was spending on high quality interconnects for digital transmission, if ionly i had shared your ephiphany! i could have saved thousands

may as well use my $700 usb cable for mounting a usb mybook external drive then.

cheers.

Don't get offended if others don't share your passion for high end digital cable, you can still like your expensive cables.

can somebody help me...?

what does that optical look like?

are they available in handyman stores?

i just bought a d1.

plan on connecting it to my macbook pro, audioengine a5 and subwoofer s8 as speakers.

i needed to use that optical to send the digital signal to the dac.

There are many different ones available on amazon or ebay.

toslink to 3.5mm optical cable is what you'd want to hook a dac with a toslink cable to a macbook or other apple with a digital output.

It is called a Toslink cable (it is optical by design)

The maverick audio DAC D1 has 3 digital inputs

1 SPDIF over coax, you don't have one on the Mac

2 SPDIF over optical (Toslink), use a Toslink with 1 mini plug (3.5) or a normal Tosling with a adapter.

3 USB, connect both with a USB cable

Compare 2 and 3 for sound quality and see if there is a difference
