'Rock and Roll' wasn't only a bad Ryan Adam's album, it was one of the worst pieces of trash that I ever spent my hard earned money on. I think he was very deep in a drugged/drunken stuper when he made that crap.

Otherwise I love him and Whiskeytown.
Rock n Roll was never supposed to be released. It was recorded in 2 weeks, in response to Lost Highway for not wanting to release Love is Hell. So basically Ryan was saying F.U. to lost highway and gave them rock n roll.

Thanks for the word.

As an old friend of mine used to say ...

"The thot plickens!"

(She was fond of swapping the first letters of words in a phrase, ...)

Thanks again ... now, off to research...

BUMP cause I haven't bumped this for a long time and was just now half way listening through the whole show and was again amazed at how freakishly amazing of a job Ryan's crew did on capturing this show ... really, it's as good as any LIVE pay album I've ever heard ... actually, it's among the best ever. The microphone placement, the signal cleanliness, the various instruments and Ryan's voice? All near unimpeachable ... and the crowd sounds, so often problematic with live recordings, are actually enjoyable here as the 3D imaging regarding such is quite eerie at times (this guy is way over, 50 ft from my right ear...this other chick is right next to me and on the left, this sort of thing) ...

Just as superb as I remember.

By the way, in case anyone hasn't found it, there is a 24 bit version of that show:

(I originally had it in 16-bit). Fantastic show!

Good stuff, just downloaded it and am enjoying it right now.

This is fantastic. I've downloaded bits and pieces of some of his other shows and they don't even come close to how great this release sounds. I just wish they would have played I See Monsters and La Cienega Just Smiled. The way the band was locking in with each other would have made for some killer performances of those beautiful songs.

Edit: The more I listen to this, the more and more impressed I become with it. It sounds fantastic on my HE-400s and I can't wait to listen to it through my Definitive Technology SM65s. I love the tone of the bass guitar and how spacious everything sounds.

It's a serious bit of live music.

I was lucky to attend this show in 2007 and the sound quality is actually very good and this concert may be recognized as one of his best performances or at least most engaged..

RA played for more than three hours straight, more than 40 songs+ because he was on a roll and in the end they had to pull him of stage, shut down the sound, turn of the lights because of the local curfew had been exceeded..

RA was pissed and wanted to continue, yelling that this was his best concert ever, if not some idiot had been screaming about Wonderwall and Sweet Carolina all the time...
