Best amp for HD580

Hey,
Well I am thinking about selling my ASL tube amp but it would require another amp for my Sennheiser HD580. I have a Heed Canamp for my AKG K701s but I may have to give the amp back to my dad who lent it to me a little while ago. So it would be good if this new amp can also drive AKG K701s pretty good too. The limit would be about $500, but the less money I spend, the better. If it matters I mainly listen to indie rock, acoustic music. I have been thinking about the Woo Audio WA3/+. So I would like to hear how this amp would work for those 2 headphones as well as other headphones which I may be purchase in the future, though I don't know of any I will be buying soon. I am also interested to know how the Lunchbox would work for those headphones as well as a one amp for everything amp since it is not talked about much around here.

Well I am waiting for replies about this, but thanks in advance.

Umm, if you let us know you're budget and a bit more about the kind of sound you like as well as what you're source will be, I think people will be able to be more helpfull.

Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 or v2 would be an excellent choice. Wonderful synergy with the HD580s!!

DARKVOICE 336se or 3322.

Sorry I thought I at least stated the budget I had. I would like to spend at most $500. My main source will be the Denon DVD 2910 as a CD player. I will also be using the E-mu 0404 USB and an old Technics turntable. I guess I want a warm sound with smoothness and a fullness to it. I say fullness because the Senn HD580 sound thin and almost hollow plugged into my heed. And thank you to all those that have responded. I have been thinking about the musical fidelity xcan v2/3 for some time now and its good to hear that it would be a good option. Can somebody comment on how one of those would do with the AKG K701. And I have not thought about the Darkvoice 336/332. What would be the best place to buy one of those, ebay?

I'm considering to get the Darkvoice 3322 or the WooAudio 6 for my HD600. I'm waiting the impression from Godkin on the Darkvoice 3322 before I make up my mind. Most likely I will get the Darkvoice as it is a lot less than the Woo.

You can buy the DARKVOICE amps on E-Bay from reliable sellers like Jasmine_Chine or you can buy direct from DARKVOICE through BOYIER.COM. If you want a fuller, warmer sound the 336se would probably be the best for you.

Okay thank you JC and Godkin. And will the impressions on the 3322 be in this section on head-fi? And maybe you could just tell me here how the 3322 sounds if the 336se has a full, warm sound.

CKKIII..very nice amp and at the right price..

BUt the best I have heard it with was the EHHA + sigma22 combo..brilliant..

The 3322 sounds simply superb. But its sound signature could hardly be called warm. It's more solid state sounding than tube sounding: very dynamic with great drive - my HD650s are driven with ease - with very deep and defined bass, but with the characteristic openess of a tube amp. It has all the benefits of its predecessor, the 332, but improves upon them. Great amp for high impedance cans like Sennheisers.

sachu: Sorry about this but I am going to sound like a noob. Where would you buy a CKKIII? Also what is the EHHA you were talking about?

Godkin: Thank you very much. I think the Darkvoice 3322 or the 336 would be very good options for me, and might buy them with the popularity they have with senns.

Nothing to be sorry about...

THe CKKIII can be bought used in the for sale section or you could build one yourself . IF you are not the DIY type, then you could ask one of the professional builders to build one for you. (MisterX comes to mind)

The EHHA is a hybrid power amp. Only way to get one would be to buy a DIY kit from glassjaraudio.com or again have one of the professional builders to make you one. To read more about the EHHA check out cavalliaudio.com

Sachu: Thanks. Does anybody here know how the CKKIII sounds with the Sennheiser HD580 and the AKG K701?

I enjoy the 0404/XCANv3 combo a lot with my HD580, but thin and hollow isn't how I hear the 580 so perhaps my impression is not too helpful.

I have heard them both with the CKKIII.

It is a winning combination both ways..
