REVIEW: Qinpu Q-2 and A-3 Amplifiers and V-5 Speakers - Page 8

Well this is the time of the year where I can buy a LOT of things, dunno why. It's not that money is too difficult to come by, It's just that I've spent so much money so far just coz I can, even if I won't use it enough to make it worth while. I feel really bad for doing this lol I really need to buy some good CDs haha. All mine are metal and sound pretty horribly recorded with my UM3X and P-51 mustang playing .wav. My sister only has like Muse and The Killers, which are alright.

You can get easily get the 5670 for MUCH less than $28/pair on EBay. Just search. Here are a pair of the better Sylvanias for $9 pair: 5670 396A 2C51 SYLVANIA MILITARY~JAN~NEW~TUBE AMPLIFIER - eBay (item 230403755964 end time Dec-04-09 09:56:25 PST)

5670's are super-plentiful and super cheap, and the USA versions all sound significantly better than the Chinese tubes.

I just assumed he'd done all the searches for the available auctions, and didn't look. However, I wonder what they'd charge to ship to him in Australia.

Thanks for the link skylab. I think i saw those before but I didn't pay much attention because i was focusing on looking for the gold pins. HPA, $8.99us for the two tubes and $15.99us for shipping :| Each additional item is free so I might as well go ahead and get a couple of pairs because if i sell the A3, I can pop the fresh ones in and it will be almost new

So how do you like your new amp
Well I won't be doing a review on it nor the p-51 Mustang for a couple of weeks. I am going to wait for my Zero DAC and some good RCA cables and a coax cale to arrive and burn everything in for approx 150 hours i hope. I am now on holidays from school until February Watch out for my reviews This time I will TRY and go into detail but it's gonna be difficult, I am no audiophile.

Oh okie

Skylab, would you recommend the A3 for a Beyer DT770 /250? Or Do you think an EF1 or EF2A would be a better suited amp for headphones?

It should be fine for the 250 ohm Beyers - but both the EF1 and EF2 are as well.

anyone else have it by now?

I have the A-3 but do not use it. It looks wonderful and I initially bought it to experience the tube sound. I loved it but the 3.5mm headphone out on the back is annoying. Looks very well made too. It has been sitting on my desk unused for a couple of weeks now. I bought a MAD Ear+ HD amp so I have no use for it. I instead did a review for my ALO-780, as I am more trained to pick out details between different headphones, not amps and sources etc.

Get some speakers for the A-3, or some Stax SR-Lambda with SRD-7 transformer, and you will get to enjoy it again.

I am in desperate need of some speakers actually. I need a job first though haha. Would be looking for some that are under $500aud that's for sure. Probably couldn't get much decent though for that price. Don't wanna buy a receiver or anything, too expensive. The A-3 has a bucket load of inputs so that shouldn't be a concern AFAIK. I know almost nothing about speakers and inputs for them etc though

I have a Qinpu Q-2, does anyone know the max impedance headphones it can drive? I would assume 32-300 ohms but I just want to make sure.

Also, what would be some good and affordable ( I stress affordable) speakers to pair with it?

Something like the Dayton Audio bookshelf speakers?

Thanks.

You would want more efficient speakers to use with the Qinpu than those Daytons.  Try to find a pair of Klipsch or something that is at least 94db 1w/1m efficient.
