Partition a hard drive and it disappears?

So in preparation for dual booting windows 7 I decided to partition my 500gb music drive into a 200gb for windows 7 and a 300gb for music. I partitioned in partitionmagic. Neither of the partitions show up in explorer (Vista), but both show up in computer management and I can open up an explorer window to access them by right clicking on the drive and clicking explore. Right now I am backing up my music to another HD just in case, but what gives? Why can I see the partitions in computer management but not in explorer?

Maybe they don't have a drive letter assigned (use disk management).
Did you run a chkdsk from the cmd line?
(start, run,"cmd") then in text window type "chkdsk x: /f" where x is the letter for the drive.
