24bit FLAC playback DAP - anyone own / know of one

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for a DAP that can playback 24bit FLAC files up to 96kHz.

The only one I can confirm that does play 24bit/48kHz FLAC files is a Cowon A3 (though of course it's defined as a media player), but an A3 is ridiculously expensive and the reviews aren't that great.

So, as the title suggests, does anyone actually own, or can confirm a DAP that can playback 24bit FLAC files, and if so, could you please advise me if it is capable of 96kHz, or 48kHz.

Many thanks in advance.

Wow.

I can only imagine there must be loads of members here that work in the electronics industry, and no one can even name one?

Shocking.

I'll try elsewhere for the info, I suppose.

Shocking how easy it is bait flamers
It is a good question that he asks and impressive how few can actually contribute to answering it save qusp and mors (thanks guys).
Perhaps you would be better served seeking out answers on audio asylum.
Flame suit on

Well ever think the answer is NONE which is why he has not gotten any answers? Seems the only option is an IMOD with rockbox and even that is in question. There was no need for him to be a ****** about it.

Although you can play 24/96 files on a rockboxed iPod, they are in fact downsampled to 16/48 (or 16/44.1 if you play song in 24/88.2).

That's an iPod DAC chip constraint which I confirmed with both Peachtree Audio (iDecco) and Gordon Rankin (Wavelength asynch USB DACs).

I too am looking for a simple DAP that can handle hires files without downsampling on the fly.

The Fiio X3 could be it. Coming out in March.

HiFiMAN HM-801 has been doing this natively for some time.

That's what I use for 24 bit, it's wonderful.

Wizard*, I believe the Hifiman 601 does 24/ 48. Check out this review.
