I've read good things about these and i recently acquired a pair. I've got to say i really don't like them, so I am trying to figure out if it is my pair or the model. there doesn't seem to be any fullness to the sound, very top-heavy. maybe they need a re-cable? maybe bad drivers? i am pretty sure i am getting a decent seal and would be willing to rule out pads for now, although they are worn out. anyways anyone who has a pair could you describe why you like them and what music i should listen to to appreciate these. I would like to keep them but right now I really can't see why I would.

When I listened to the sound for the 1st time, I was hit by it. I was punched by the not-punchy-bass. I was hoping it would offer much better bass response than SE315.. equals to Klipsch Image...

There are a few who'll chime in, that swear by these. But I'm on you're side, I have the original old version, and while they sound good, don't sound any better than my k140's 600ohm. IMO of course.
They sound thin, and while other seem to disagree, sibilant. They are detailed, and I seem to like acoustics on them though, but been listening to my DT990's mostly these days.

They aren't killer cans when it comes to getting the high end sound like the HD580 can do, but then the Monitor 10 cost about 20-40 euros now. I really like their sound, but it's not for all my music. Also, they are closed and isolate really really well which is sometimes an advantage. (No, I don't find them sibilant. But they are old, so there could very well also be individual variations between different cans.)
Ear pads can make a big difference, by the way.

okay i issue a full retraction. i hated these doing !30 sec ab comparisons but these things have grown on me. my sextetts are like being wrapped in a warm blanket by the fire sipping hot cocoa, whereas these are like sitting alone in a field of grass on a clear summers day. (song that turned me was comfortably numb by floyd, but you have to at least listen through one of their other songs first to get in the groove)

Pink can do that for ya. My problem was I bought several headphones with a couple weeks of each other, and just didn't click with them. But yes, I they still are great for the $$$

I totally agree! At first the clarity was very distracting but once I got used to them, they were incredible...especially for the price.
