Best sounding transparent portable CD player?

I just want something simple (in other words, it can have a screen and everything, but I don't need ATRAC, MP3, etc.). I would like to stay well below $100 (so maybe about $70 max, but anything lower than that is absolutely fine!)

As for why I think I need a new portable CD player:

That should explain it. If you don't think a new player will help, could someone please tell me what will?

Bump with title edit.

Also, as of now I'm temporarily using a Panasonic SL-S231C. I have outlined why I don't like it in the thread I linked to in the first post.

Maybe you could check if a good, but used, old PCDP fits?

Here in the forum you'll find lots of comments about e.g.
- Panasonic SL-CT780
- iRiver SlimX iMP-550
- Sony D-EJ2000
- Sony D-NE10

Issue resolved a while ago. This thread is no longer important. Thank you, though.
