I just wanted to state that, for the record, it *is* possible to get a discount, but that depends on having an alread-established good purchase history with a dealer...
If Senn UK find out who this dealer is, it'll be the last pair of HD800's he sells! Just out of interest, did you get a receipt? (Senn UK, unless they have changed their ways, were requiring the dealers to fax a copy of an invoice showing the full £999 purchase price paid before they would drop-ship the phones.)

My wife picked up the phones and left the envelope with the receipt but he's posting it out. I can't see how that would work anyway, as a dealer could be buying so as to maintain a stock of the headphones.

Senn UK was not allowing dealers to stock the HD800, pending the signing of a legal agreement with the dealer. (A legal agreement that didn't actually exist for the dealer to be able to sign it. That might have changed now.)

I think we can assume that it has, as I did visit one (different) dealer late last year who carried one in stock (which I could have purchased that day had I had the money).

Only 2 places they seem available based on Google shopping:
Tehyoo - Sennheiser HD 800 (500319) Sennheiser HD 800 (500319) 62736
wouldn't trust that place with a barge pole, never heard of them

Crazy Cameras - Sennheiser HD800 Premier Headphone
..never ordered from Crazy Cameras but they source from the states. £1.2k....boy..
The HD 800 is not available on-line in the UK, so any on-line dealer would have to purchase them at full retail price (£999.99) from a high street dealer and add his profit on the top - hence the high prices in the link.

Ah well, looks like I got the bargain of the day/week/month with mine...

Lucky you - the rest of us will just have to be patient..
