My First Look at the Sennheiser HD800 - Page 10

I don't know about you guys but after seeing the pictures in the original post I can't possibly believe that Tyll can come in here and give anything close to an accurate review of the HD800's performance. How can he hear the music over that shirt?

Genetic adaptation.

apparently rum helps quiet the shirt without impacting his hearing

Very nice pre-impressions. This is definitely, the only 'overpriced' headphone what can be more "worth the money" (that i can consider.... I can break that tabu, about expending a lot in something that is not worth that money) and to get.... Still, it is very expensive; but it isn't a chinesse low quality product (at least it's hoped/expected..., that not some of his materials, for that price).
I like his look [very futuristic (not as the old line...)] and build quality/construction and materials used...
"Possibly" can do a effort/sacrifice to get them in the "near" future....
Hope that they overcome my maximum/supreme 'secret' modded Denons (Benondynamics), for a reasonably range at least...

Dunno if you would do this, but I thought I would ask, anyway. After receiving your HD800 for review, at some point would you please try the HD800 out of the Total AirHead? I would like to have an idea as to how well/poorly it drives the HD800, since it is all I'll have once I get my HD800 from HeadRoom (ordered this past weekend, went through this morning - will I be getting in the first shipment?). Thanks.

Yup, I'm going way above the rest of equipment with this headphone, but I have always considered headphones before sources and amps, since the difference between headphones is the most apparent one. I'll upgrade the rest in time (amp first if it does relatively poorly on the HD800), as I hope the HD800 will be my last major headphone purchase for the next several years.

Couldn't really understand this reading around...is the HD800 going to be compatible with current HD650 balanced cables? I paid quite a lot for my Equinox cable, and it would be nice if I still could use it with these...

Sure, I'll try them on an AirHead.

No, the cables are not interchangeable between the 800 and 650.

If do-able it would be a nifty/cheaper solution.

hey i saw the youtube video of u guys at CES 2008..now i know who u r..

i ve always visited headroom for the frequency charts and headphone reviews.

and i can say the reviews are very reliable.

one thing though..not much was said of HD800's bass in the review..i understand its an open headphone..but can it have that impact in the low end like denons and yet have the smoothness of HD650 in the midrange?
