You know you're an audiophile when.... - Page 5

Hmmm...this is going to make me look very bad... (I'm not guilty of all of them though):

When you ask your friend to receive deliveries for you so your wife doesn't find out what you've bought.

When you miss hearing your baby cry because the music was turned up too loud.

When your rig costs more than your computer.

When your rig costs more than your car.

You don't have a flat screen TV because the money for it went into headphones, DACs or amps.

You use jazz to help your baby sleep.

You buy ED9s as portable cans.

$1399 looks like a bargain for Sennheiser's latest flagship.

I was explaining to my coworker that I bought some nice heapdhones. He asked me if I got Bose (I didn't, they were HD600s). He proceeded to call me an audiophile after I explained why the Senns were better.

Ouch, touche. I would also add buying locally with cash so it's "untraceable".

When you spend 800 dollars to put a 150 watt amplifier on your motorcycle and still prefer to wear IEM's while riding.

When your homepage is head-fi
When you neglect people you enjoy spending time with to listen to music
When you have to ask what time is it after looking at gear specs
When you know what someones going to say after you tell them how much your gear costs

EDIT -
When you laugh at the signature "Balanced Headphones have both pluses and minuses "

...when you keep coming back to this thread to see other peoples resons

...when people keep on say "yes, your headphones are great, now can we talk about something else other than your 'great' headphones"

Who told you? Who have you been talking to? It's not true! I'll add:

When you secretly get a credit card and PayPal account just to buy audio equipment.

I feel bad for you guys. My wife digs my system, and gets annoyed when we go to other people's houses and their audio setup sucks.

...when you insist on wearing your Ultrasones whilst doing the laundry.

*On a side note, I've started convincing quiet a few of my friends that being an audiophile doesn't have to cost them heaps of money by letting them sample my Grado SR60 and cheap DAC.

That's what drug dealers do, give em a little taste and get them hooked, ya it's not really expensive and then the habit takes over, before you know it, its the drugs(headphones) talking.
