lol, my dad found out how much I spent on my headphones and I live completely seperate to him (in mu own accomadation making my own money etc...) and he was still angry at me, I don't undertand why though. :confused_face(1):

If you're shopping for a $2K amp I would hope you make your own money. :p

As for others in life, it has a lot to do with 'perceived value' and social norms - I mean, the absolute amount for a Porsche is a lot more than premium headphone, but people 'get it' when you buy a expensive car. But the multiplier from cheapos to HD800 is in the 100's, and people don't have the context to understand your reasons. But I believe you can get most people to understand if you can engage with them.

It's funny as he didn't blink when he saw my projector when he visited (which cost more then $2k). I think some people just have a hard time accepting that spending money on audio gear is worthwhile to some and does have actual improvements (and significant ones at that). Ohh well, he'll have to deal with it, I didn't say anything when he bought a sports car which he never usses (it's his money and it's not my business what he does with it). I just found it amusing. :)

Speaking of which, you know you're an audiophile when your shopping around for a $2000 amp. :p
