I think people are overlooking the part that an initial batch has been shipped and is on it's way.

Well one would hope out of that "initial batch" at least some head-fi'ers get a pair. What is the world record for breath holding?

Chances are that in the initial batch some of the big retailers will be getting them as well, so hopefully soon they might be able to tell you how many. J&R told me they have only 3 pre-ordered and ordered a lot more than that. So who knows. I'm keeping in contact with my D7000 salesman so I'll post as soon as I know how many they are getting, when, and how low we can get them for.

Bay Bloor Radio in Toronto told me via email that they'll have some "in the next month" and they are "waiting for our rep to present them to us"... sounds like salesman BS to me...

(... they'll probably be charging at least $2k, knowing that place. )

I'm so jaded and cynical like many here that it's going to take a lot before I believe it too. Like my credit cared being charged or it appearing on my front door steps.

As unlikely as it sounds, it maybe be true.

Thanks for the link, I don't hang around here most of the time, so this is new to me.

According to them, this proprietary connector was mainly developed for improved contact over those in the HD650. They certainly look more robust.

I didn't catch every word in the brief meeting as I was too busy checking out the phone but I'm certain it's in the hundreds; not a few pieces.

It's my 1st contact with the actual phone and it certainly feels comfortable and look gorgeous, esp the translucent metal foil around the ear. Unfortunately i did not get to audition it.
