Hmm. $1200 at today's rates. Looks like you guys are getting a little bit of a break.

Well, with all respect, PS1000 would be EUR 1999 and HD800 EUR 895, both confirmed, so, say what?

In both situations, but more towards HD800, I just re-build my system and dont have funds and amp to drive HD800, so, some other Dutch members need to jump on this one.
Just wonder if Sennheiser did change the strategy, knowing about PS1000 I mean, they want to flush them totally out. Even GS1000 may get more troubles with sale, cos they are still EUR 1180 up here.

Yeah, no break there -- except maybe both your legs!

Well, I might have to change my preorder to J&R. As you know, J&R salesmen come down a lot on the prices. The D7000 has a retail of $999 but J&R will sell it between $525 and $549 including shipping. I doubt they will discount the HD800 that much but they will discount it some, I'm guessing at least $100 - $200. They have a bunch on order and so far they only have 3 reserved.

Edit: So far I've gotten them to go down to $1300 including shipping. I'm trying to get them to go down to $1250 including 2-day shipping.

Not sure I would be advertising this. Senn is very protective of their price on these and will come down hard on J&R if this true. You are much more likely to lose your sale by making this information public.

Just so you know, I did inform the salesman that I would be posting the price here to save my fellow community members money while at the same time generating business for them and he had no problems with that. And when enough people here see it I can remove it (and you would have to remove it from your post as well). They don't seem to have any problem with us showing the Denon price here either, nor does Denon seem to have a problem with them charging so little. I don't think any electronics company is going to pull the plug on J&R. They sell tons of product and everyone knows this. It would be stupid for them to do so.

Getting a sweet deal, on an imaginary, non-existent product, is not really a deal, at all.

I've gotten into this discussion before, but.... In the US it is against the law to disenfranchise a dealer for selling at any given price. It's called restraint of free trade. What Sennheiser can do (and Grado does fiercely) is enforce a MAP policy. MAP is a Minimum Advertised Price policy, so as long as J&R doesn't advertise below Sennheisers MAP Sennheiser can't legally do anything, and J&R is big enough to fight and win if Sennheiser is stupid enough to try and enforce an actual selling price. It's why it's referred to as MSRP the S stands for Suggested.

The courts in the US have determined that a MAP policy is legal, but a forced selling price is NOT.

...interesting...this i did not know...

I bumped into the HD800's product manager Maurice while in Sennheiser yesterday. He mentioned that the 1st batch to the US will be shipping out today. They're handmade in small quantity in Germany, hence the long wait.

That's excellent news!

Those who wants to buy aftermarket cables for their HD800 may want to note that the connectors are different from HD650.

They're larger proprietary connectors from Sennheiser and unlikely to be available to cable manufacturers at the moment; so not sure what they're selling you.

Maurice mentioned that the cables are already balanced, so all you need is to change the connector to your amp and resolder them.

Old news. Several members have already obtained the correct connectors.
