Well, I tried to call Sennheiser USA today and all I kept getting were voicemail recordings. So I left 2 messages and much to my surprise (hint of sarcasm), I got no call back. I will try again tomorrow. If I don't hear a response by end of day tomorrow (or even the next day), I will just assume that Sennheiser wants to continue to make no comment on the HD800 and is instilling their existing/new customer base with very little confidence in this product.

Recent changes on Headroom website:
The May availability was taken out all together to match the summer 2009 availability.

Sennheiser went from week approximations (late Feb., early March, mid March, late March, so forth) to season (Summer 2009). Wow!!!

It could be anytime from now to late September (21st I believe is when summer ends) . :confused_face_2 :

If that is true and we get some confirmation, I'll definitely be buying something else in the interim.

Wow well this means that I'm getting that amp in the meantime. That's pretty bad though.

Where exactly did Sennheiser mention anything to this effect? Only such reports I have seen is from the vendor(s), not Sennheiser themselves.

its obvious they had planned for a much earlier release. Review/dealer samples have been making the rounds for months now. Why would they go that far if the actual release was 4-5 months off?

What practical difference does it make whether the (mis)statements came from vendors (who were misled by Sennheiser, and then in turn misled customers) or Sennheiser themselves? It still remains Sennheiser's product and thus their responsibility to manage vendor and customer expectations. They can't just nod off for a 6 month communications nap and except everyone to be cool with it.

OK - firstly, the e-bay headphones now appear to have been removed. It looks as if someone was trying to put an early pre-order in and make a fast profit from people who wanted them quick.

Secondly, the "Logan batch" have all been recovered and are back with Sennheiser Germany.

I have had confirmation that they *are* producing the HD 800 and a batch will be released in the next few days - after which the Sennheiser subsidiaries will get confirmation of delivery dates.

Thanks for the heads-up. I wonder why Headroom was acting like it was going to be delayed for a few months?
