This is not how it works 'round these parts...

Fair play to anyone who can justify a pair in these economic times of ours

I am still mourning that the £ goes less further in the headphone import game

MX500? Are we talking the old earbuds here? Used to have them before selling. Still have the PX100 for prosperity

Looking forward to the impressions to come, if only to admire from afar. By the time I can afford a pair, we'd have progressed another two generations of flagship 'phones

I particularly like the image painted by the thought headphones may not have yet to progress to a level to fully reveal what microphones pick up

Remember how you got here? They'll only sound worse if you try better

But with a $1400 price-tag, I can hold back my excitement. Hopefully they'll make an appearance at CanJam and we can all try it out sans the tag

Well, I'm glad that I've bought myself a very nice Gibson so I won't have to buy a new headphone for another year. Now I only have to learn how to play guitar...

No I can't, a month is like 100 internet years!

So I was just reading over the replies in the "Pic HD800" thread and I noticed this very interesting reply from the thread creator. If he was right about the picture, then perhaps this additional information will turn out to be true as well? I sure hope so because I would definitely consider the purchase of a black colored HD800. And an amp set? Similar to what Beyerdynamic did?

Well the truth will be revealed soon!! Let's see! It's a real HD 800 there're three versions" HD 800 BLACK/Silver/AMP SET!!

Thanks for the quick updates, Jude....This is exciting news. I wonder if it will come with a case or stand...granted, not the most important thing but if one wishes to have the best, one does not take these things for granted.

Also, I've always wanted to try the sony mdr-r10 but could not. How close to the "King" would you say, if you dare, this Sennheiser HD800 comes?

IMO, everything depends on that claimed phenomenal frequency response. If true, I want them. Otherwise the high-end Sonys seem more impressive to me with their ultra-lightweight magnesium construction.

True. That's why I wouldn't call modern headphone drivers «dome drivers» (just as little as cone speakers with a «dust-cap» dome in the center). They're something in between dome, cone and partial-vibrator/ring-radiator drivers.

I think this may turn out to be a 'polite' headphone. Which isn't bad. I have plenty of those.
So you're lucky and definitely don't need one of those HD 800s.

True! And I'm pretty sure it's a direct consequence of the special driver design. Also look at the virtually reflexion-free rear of the driver!

How could they measure that frequency response when the human ear can't even hear that high/low?
