Using EQ to get any bass - Page 2

no telling then - try another pair of generic headphones on the same computer, then if the problem is still there sift through every possible control panel and setting related to audio, there is probably a bass slider that is off somewhere.

But if i understand on E-mu they dont sound so good? Maybe is there problem?

Also, instead of usin KS try using ASIO. Just in case. ASIO really skips all possible volume sliders and such other than what Foobar offers and what your soundcards possible mixer software can adjust in ASIO output. Atleast in my system I found that KS was still affected by windows volume controls.

Did I mention I'm using Vista? And the laptop is also.

Should my windows sound icon look like this?

Try different media players. WMP, or iTunes. :P also VLC.

It doesn't matter what media player I'm using. Even on the internet there is very little bass. There is no audible bass when I'm listening to Lastfm. But on the laptop it is totally the opposite. Plenty of bass on every program, including Lastfm.

well 0404 is supposed to be less bassy than some. but not like this.

if not using the 0404 on that computer do you get no bass? if so, try finding a real asio program. if not, 0404 may be faulty

I think you need to rush to an Otologist as soon and fast as you can!

Yeah, even if I uninstall the 0404 and switch to onboard sound there is still very little to no bass.

And the comments about my hearing don't help so don't post them. There is nothing wrong with my hearing.

So should I try and get a new 0404 or try and figure something out?

This makes it looks like the 0404 isn't the problem:

Try the 0404 with another machine if you like, but it sounds like something gravely wrong with the sound on the machine in question, particularly if it happens with onboard sound.

Have you tried MaZa's suggestion of switching to ASIO?

If you can't track down the software problem, the next step is a software reinstall. I'd say it might be a hardware problem, but not if the bass is anemic on the 0404 -and- onboard sound. That means software.

Yep, I've tried ASIO and reinstalling the EMU's drivers. No luck. I am just totally perplexed by the whole problem...

Tommorow, I'll try putting the 0404 on the laptop I've been talking about and see if that does anything.

Hopefully I won't have to reinstall windows or anything...

You have already shown the 0404 has nothing to do with the problem (onboard sound has same issue). Any old crappy sound card will create plenty of bass out of a DT770 pro, so there is likely some weird eqing or dsp going on, if it is only that laptop.

You have checked the laptop with other headphones, yes?

No, I really don't have any other headphones to try with. I'll try looking tomorrow when I'm not so sleepy.
