Whats wrong with firefox. I HATE IT

Thread Starter
Hi i just have to share my bad experience with firefox lately.Have used it all my internet time and have loved it but now....

Almost every time i have written something here and shall preview it firefox shuts down and goes firefox had error and had to restart (maby not exactly those words).

Then i can choose start new session or restart last session. Yeah its a nice function but i loose my text many times and it takes some time load up the pages every time so does anyone use another browser than mozilla? and have this occurred to others.

PS- Does anybody know where that fox lives? is it near a volcano since its burning? i have to find it and throw it in a lake nearby or else we are doomed forever....

Hmm... I use Firefox exclusively, and haven't had crash problems. Some things to check:
  • Bad RAM? That can cause all sorts of unpredictable crashes. It wouldn't be a bad idea to run Memtest86+ overnight to see if RAM might be causing your problems.
  • Are all your plugins (Flash, Java, Adobe Reader, QuickTime, etc.) updated? Plugins might be causing the crashes.
  • Is Firefox itself updated to the latest version (3.0.5 as of this writing)?
  • Have you scanned for malware lately? (Beware of fake scanners though - there's a slew of fake ones out, and it seems like a new one comes out every day, even though it's undoubtedly the same ring of crooks behind them all.)

I'm using Firefox 3.0.5 too right now and been previewing too with no problem.

I've changed to Opera for 2 weeks and really satisfied. FF was used to be good but it kept crashing again and again, which made me crazy.

FF has never crashed on me, currently 3.0.5.

If it should make you feel a little better friend, IE7 shuts down at least, AT LEAST once a week on me, almost always in the middle of trying to look something important up, like a part for an amp or something.

Matter of fact, I think it's OK to say that I am about as thoroughly displeased and dissapointed with Vista, IE7 in particular, as anything....ever.

I have Firefox on my machine, and it beats the snot out of IE7, all day long.

You might find something useful here, (or not!) I also had problems with FF randomly closing a few months ago, but I can't remember how it got fixed, maybe an update?

That jogged my memory. I have a colleague at work who's FF was crashing occasionally. I told him to update it and it has not crashed on him after.

Sorry, can't resist:

Get a Mac. *grin*

I have the same with Chrome. It seems to be firewall related. I have Avira Premium since a couple of weeks (had the standard without firewall before).
Running on XP.

Matter of fact, I just downloaded Chrome and I'm using it now to make this post.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I use Safari also, but I bet it runs smoother on a Mac.
I'll keep y'alll posted(like it's gonna help a bunch LOL)....

Avoid sites with lots of flash and javascript tomfoolery. Use noscript.

For long posts, always use a text editor.

Yeah, you're not the only one not fully pleased with Firefox.
I still bare out with it at work (Windows XP Pro) in the lack of something "better", but have switched to Camino at home (Mac OS X) several years ago. Never going back!

Using Firefox, but I haven't updated. It tries to force me to update, but I shut it down. Maybe I will allow it to update, if others haven't experienced problems.
