Okay, now for a moment of non-metal.

One of my favorite non-metal bands of all time is Daft Punk.

The new album is streaming on iTunes so of course I gave it a spin.

It sounds phenomenal. There is no way this album is DR4/5 territory, if it was mostly DR6 I would be SHOCKED.

Some of the tracks sound EXTREMELY dynamic and lush. This is from only a stream (my CD arrives in the next day or so).

I then went on DR Database, and lo and behold....some one already put it in...the album is a DR8 and the track I was listening to was DR8 (they range from 7-9)!

Well done Daft Punk....vinyl probably kills! Much better than the last outing.

Favorite of mine too. I bet the vinyl will not disappoint.

ALL their LP releases sit right around the DR12 sweet spot. My Discovery vinyl is phenominal.

Nice, I actually forgot that it was coming out. Sounds even better now.

Without any actual measurements I think this is up there at 12. Very lush and groovy no doubt. I wish Discovery wasn't so uneven as an album, I've many times passed on it. Maybe should be getting it?

Really? Personally I can't stand them...

The only electronic type music I've enjoyed is Jean Michel Jarre, but he used only instruments (friggin' laser harp!) and no computer tweaking.

EDIT: I also found Korn's The Path of Totality to be ok, but that album has a metal base on which the dubstepp-ey music is added.

Really. Absolutely love Daft Punk, always will.

I got to tell you guys since there is a lot of stuff I am listening that is not out yet. This is gonna be a banner year for metal.

New Deafheaven just arrived! :-)

DR Database has RAM at DR13 so...I think the vinyl will be groovy to say the least...

I don't understand how ANYONE could not like Discovery. It's far and away their best studio album, IMO. Sounds fantastic on vinyl, too.

Good to hear the new one is...good, though.

+1. Discovery is one of the best electronic albums I've heard. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger manages to stay in my head several hours after listening.

I do like it. Just maybe not enough to also have a vinyl copy of it. That DR12 is very tempting I must say! Face to Face is maybe my single favourite electronic song out there. Probably the reason why I like Madeon so much.
