CD master or not I just dropped the needle on the new Cult of Luna LP and it sounds good.
Lets Talk Metal - Page 604
I want this so bad, but In my heart of hearts, I know it won't sound any better than the CD.
It's not terribly expensive, the packaging is pretty, and they're HAND NUMBERED. Just get a copy. Worth it CD master or not.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for hand numbered stuff. That's what got me in the store anyway.
It probably will end up getting me, just not right now, too many others I want to purchase and not enough funds haha
Just a little insider information: In 99% of the time some random guy working for the label handnumbers them. The artist doesn't even see the release unless the labels remembers the send him one copy. Or if he buys it himself. :p
Makes sense from the little I've learned.
You really thought I expected the band to do that? :|
It's still impressive whether the intern did it or not.
Well it's just that a lot of labels use it to give buyers the impression their products are touched by the artist. So the "fan" supposedly receives something "the artist" personally handled. It's a bit of a scam in my opinion. Some artists actually do personally number and sign stuff so there's still hope. :)

Will you sign the next Carach Angren album for me? Please!?

Thought you guys might enjoy this as I haven't noticed any talk about this here (surprisingly). Blood Music is releasing a Strapping Young Lad vinyl boxset a few days before Record Store Day this year. This is the first time quite a few of these have been on vinyl and all of them have had redone covers and remastered audio specifically for this release. I will absolutely be buying this, anyone else? Here's all the covers.
New masters are done by Troy Glessner (who did the masters for the latest Devin Townsend Project album, which didn't sound bad at all)
Epicloud? Honestly I thought the sound on that album stunk. Most DT albums don't sound that great TBH (the early ones are especially bad) but I do like Alien quite a bit and I'm curious about that. The rest of the SYL albums I never cared for that much. Alien was originally released on VERY limited 10" vinyl, Discogs has one mint for $100.
I'm a lot more interested in the new Century Media pressing of Terria, which has always been a personal favorite (Olives, Mountain, Earth Day, Canada, all fantastic). Sadly BOB blew it with the newer DT vinyl. I would've loved to have a good vinyl press of Ziltoid, but it's not to be.
