A few years ago I was a big fan of the Shuttle Barebone SFF PCs for LAN party gaming. I also was a big fan of surround audio for gaming. I had a soundblaster that days. But the graphics cards grew...
Good solid bass, not very impactful, definitely not for bassheads. Has a warmer feel, and is not very laid back. Also less colored than I would expect. Overall good, as I paid around 120 for...

First - my credentials as a headphone user (as far as they go). I've been into hi-fi for 3 decades, and consider myself a reasonably...

Compared to Coldplay? Definitely not. In contrast to the entire realm of metal I would consider them really catchy, but it's just not pop.
Ofcourse it isn't. My point is that it boggles the mind to have so many people love a band like Coldplay when I'm sure 85% of them would love Anathema if only they would put in the effort. It's not the genre that bothers me, it's the lack of interest in the band itself.
Holy cow this new Between the Buried and Me CD has got to be there best cd yet...it sounds a ton less random then anything else they have put out...i can actually see myself listening to this one quite a bit
Yea, it's a great album. I will say that some parts are a bit too scrambled for my taste, but otherwise I dig it.

Yeah, that's true for a lot of bands. Sadly there's a very strict formula that needs to be followed in order to get on top 40 radio...

Hi. In case you haven't guessed from my avatar, yes, I am a metalhead. That's Finnish band's Rippikoulu's demo Musta Seremonia. One of the finest death metal demos ever made. Essential for fanatics of Finnish DM such as moi. As an aside, I'd love to hang that up in my living room. Gorgeousness andgorgeousity made flesh.
Random, I know. I had no opening, so I crafted my own. Death is only the beginning.
I think there have been a lot of good posts about lots of good bands.
@Soup: And I thought you didn't *listen* to BTBAM? They are a great band, always have been. I met Tommy Rogers at a show, nice guy.
I knew my post was badly worded when I wrote it.
Music being subjective and all, I meant good in my opinion, not in anyone else's, I should have said nice to see a post about a band I like.
I'm already familiar with Opeth in general and I'm not looking for Opeth-like bands as such.
I guess it's the organ and a certain Pink Floyd-ish vibe I get from this song that appeals to me. I'd be grateful for any suggestions :)
Edit: I don't listen to much power (anymore), but Trogdor's suggestion is an old favourite album of mine.
A couple of suggestions for William007:
Edguy - Out of Control. Their older albums are more traditional power than the newer ones, Vain Glory Opera might be a good starting point. This features guest vocals by Hansi from Blind Guardian.

I spent quite a lot of time trying to find Opethian bands. This may not help you but you can definitely check them out. What I mean to say is, your requirement is very specific and I hope there is atleast one of the band below (or few songs by them) which is able to fulfill it.
