When I listened to the sound for the 1st time, I was hit by it. I was punched by the not-punchy-bass. I was hoping it would offer much better bass response than SE315.. equals to Klipsch Image...
Synopsis: The Aurisonics AS-1b is a very nice custom-fit monitor with a sound tuned for the needs of professional musicians performing on stage. It gives the listener a mid-centric sound that...
HiFiMAN HE400
By now I think most of us are familiar with the history behind the HiFiMAN HE-series headphones. What started with a single model has grown into a full...
I was in Japan and was looking at headphones to buy. I had a cheap budget of about 4000 yen or circa $40. I bought this headphone because it was on sale for $30 and was very good looking. It was...
You know I just read the Psycroptic review on AMG. Sigh. I used to like reading his reviews. Now I just get frustrated.
I still think AMG does a fairly good job overall. None of the metal blogs are perfect. Metal Sucks for example gets the vapors every time Lacuna Coil farts out a new album. I have no idea why that is.

He does. And he makes a lot of valid points. Consistency is his problem (advantage?).
Albums which I am pretty positive are going to get 3.5/4.0 don't and albums that I think he is going to hate, he loves (especially Swedish doom, he has a penchant for that and Orphaned Land).
Gosh, I've been playing this one 2002 CD nonstop for the last three days. I guess I'm subconsciously getting ready for the new CC release named Torture out soon. There is a pre-release track named Demented Aggression floating around it's also the opening track of the new album.

I know how you feel. I have been listening to a lot of Phil Col....li....n....s...Behemoth...in lieu of the almost completely sold out tour happening this Spring.

Saw Behemoth at Ozzfest couple of years ago 07/08. They were at a sub stage in the afternoon with a cheesy garage level sound system almost. Crowd loved them though. I think I needed it to be louder. Same way when I saw Nile touring with Hypocrisy, not loud enough. That is why headphones rule.....loudness!
Beautiful, soothing funeral doom. Whispered vocals drenched in reverb, repetitive and hypnotic acoustic folky melodies and ofcourse a glacial pace result in 12 minutes of funeral bliss.

Wonderful album of 2011. Have you checked Esoteric as well?
@Negakinu Awesome band. I'll have to admit that I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy funeral doom, but the way Mournful Congregation produces those melodies make strolls at night blissfully haunting.
Just thought I'd share the album in my avatar, haha! Hungarian one-man avant-garde black metal. This guy truly has defined a sound of his own, interweaving hungarian folk melodies, a dash of pop sensibility, all built on a savage foundation of black(-ish) metal. His music is very conceptual and extremely evocative; his lyrical themes always have to do with the fascination of the nature of the world. And the bottom line is that he knows how to write awesome songs.

Oh, and that guitar tone!
LOL. Check a few pages back...discussed....
@Negakinu here we go, Esoteric (one more time fool for not playing what I post):
Haha, a little more than a few pages back! However, if it has already been discussed, my apologies.
Don't be sorry. I hadn't listened to it a few pages back but did now! Would've slipped under my radar if you hadn't re-posted. :) It's good to have reminders now and then, there are so many recommendations that I can't keep up with all of them.
On another note, new Lunar Aurora sample on their myspace! In my opinion, an epitome of atmospheric german black metal. They took a break after Andacht in 2007, but now they're back! Astounding melancholy abound! Man, they've still retained their trademark sound.
