"Following 2015 debut Dark Matter, the new album features a lethal combination of traditional European metal and American style aggression. The lyrics deal with the famous sci-fi and fantasy sagas of Frank Herbert's "Dune" and George R. R. Martin's "A Game of Thrones", as well as D&D, and "Magic: The Gathering" (tabletop games). Into the Nebula is sure to appeal to fans of MEGADETH, ANNIHILATOR, ICED EARTH, IRON SAVIOR, RAGE, GAMMA RAY and BLIND GUARDIAN. "

Top bonnets of the year.

I don't keep up with much new music (far too busy with what I already have), but for what it's worth, here's my top ten for this year.

The Killer Instinct Original Soundtrack (included with the Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition video game) is my album of the year, but it isn't a proper metal album per se. It has music from 2014-2016 in various styles. Much of it is metal. You can hear it here:

I'll put the rest in alphabetical order instead of ranking them.

The Algorithm: Brute Force
Antaeus: Condemnation
Dark Tranquillity: Atoma
Evergrey: The Storm Within
Fleshgod Apocalypse: King
Korn: The Serenity Of Suffering
Meshuggah: The Violent Sleep Of Reason
Soilwork: Death Resonance
Vektor: Terminal Redux

Operation Mindcrime was played as the opener for Metallica's ......And Justice For All. But Metallica fans didn't want to hear the band and took every cushion off every chair at the Long Beach Arena. A couple of people died, but it was the best concert I've ever seen. I was into Operation Mindcrime but could see and feel the unrest of a sea of Metallica fans. It was amazing!

Yup, that was the concert but in Portland, OR. I've got to say that I loved Mindcrime but wasn't very happy with Metallica. It was basketball playoff season, and it was Portland vs Chicago in the finals. Jason wore a Chicago Bulls shirt and taunted the crowd. Then I guess we weren't stoking their ego enough, so they stopped paying and demanded that we scream louder for them or they'd walk off the stage. At that point, I just sat down. I mean, I was a student who paid a good chunk of money to go to the concert and the people I paid to pay were talking about not honoring that? Not cool!

If you guys don't have an AudioQuest Nighthawk yet you really should consider one for metal. It is not the fastest driver out there, but it's sonic signature for bad recording is amazing. Listening to in the nightside eclipse with them is like listening to a whole new album. It is full, layered, detailed and not overly bright. Listening to it on my 650 is a much worse experience.

Such a great headphone.

It really is. I'm waiting on the Carbon and then I'll probably buy another set.

TBH its lack of clinical accuracy helps, it gives everything some life.

The Blazers needed to feed Buck Williams more! Granted he was at the tail end of his career, but the Bulls didnt have great interior D that season.

Drexler couldnt cover MJ...nobody could, but the real problem was Kersey vs. Pippen!

I would be pissed too if any musician had worn my team's enemy jersey during a concert...not a cool move.
