Their new guitarist already left?! Somebody in that band must be hard to work with. I listened to practically the whole album and I'm still not sure if I'll buy it. It's just decent I guess. It seems too over the top in my opinion, maybe due to pressure like you mentioned.

Every reviewer loved it. I don't know? I do know though that we can't go back in time. It's like you said, nervous in a way. I'm just waiting for the nervous sound to go away? Older stuff sounded different, but to tell you the truth, I don't care about the good reviews.

@TJ Elite introduced me to this experimental black metal / ambient / noise band.

Haven't heard 'em yet, but there are a lot of free downloads!

The electronic side of his music is pretty good: weird clicky ambient music. The black metal side is pretty hard to listen to. Vast Chains is the best I've heard by him, but even that is a tough pill to swallow, He plays almost completely in microtonal notes... it's like dissonance on steroids.

That's actually reassuring for me. The weirder, the better!

On another note, here's a fairly raw black metal track: http://dmp666.bandcamp.com/track/when-the-blood-turns-black

And if you really want raw BM, listen to Ildjarn! (Who ironically released very pretty-sounding ambient albums in addition to BM.)

Cobalt's upcoming album is now up for pre-orders. The premiere song sounds really nice.
