Are You Experienced has a number of mono tracks off to one side. That is the charm of rock from that time.

Are you saying that the drums don't extend to the far right and left and stay between the speakers only?

On ABAL.............
They recorded the drums on a 4 track then mixed it down to two tracks so they would have two more tracks for the rest. Still Hendricks left the master tapes for one whole side of that album in a taxi and they were lost forever. Maybe the album side is made from what they had left over?

A friend I know left $35,000 in a taxi, never to be found again. Stuff like that happens.

Geez. Well, that would suck.

Enjoying the KISS diatribes even though I'm a pretty casual fan.

Who doesn't love Double Platinum, Alive I-III and Love Gun!

Some things you do wrong and never tell anyone, but leaving cash in a taxi in NY, you tell all your friends about. I guess it numbs the pain?

Well, Jimi was the leader so they could not kick him out. Someone has that tape. The mystery of Rock.

Just like any great player Ace had his own style, I am just saying, does Richie Blackmore have a super technical style when Deep Purple made the record "Made In Japan"? People thought it was at the time of release but now days, I wonder if the album is looked at as a guitar masterpiece?

I'm going to have to vote "yes" on that one.  A lot of guys like Randy Rhodes and Yngwe Malmsteen built on that style for sure, but I always felt that it started with Blackmore, especially that album.

my favorite ritual music masters have released another cathartic piece of occult beauty.  very drone and drawn out...but also easily their most accessible

I know it sounds insane but from my position the drums were coming out from the wall   -ill draw it

speaker----------------------------------------------drums-------------------------------------------------------------speaker

up from the skies was the song

i was about 8 to 10 ft from the speakers

I have not read too much more on this subject but it seems side one of the record was made from the remaining tracks left over after the master tape was left by Jimi in a taxi. So yes, it could be a mono drum track sitting dead center.

Up From The Skies is the second song of side one and all of side one is the lost master tape!

The great part was that it was their second album and no one cared as they were a total success. There could be too much technology today and too many choices. Great music is about the energy and talent and good sound quality is important but not paramount.

In 1967 people were listening to the LPs at parties and thought, cool, it sounds great! They were still amazed by stereo.
