That is great news. Cobalt is ranks very high as a USBM band in my opinion... I'd rank them as a tie for first with Minenwerfer. They just have this scathing sound that not many USBM bands achieve.

Never heard of Cobalt before. Not really my thing, to be honest.

I've been a fan of man's gin (folk project of cobalt singer) since their first album....recently I got gin (cobalt album) and really enjoyed it! Sounds like they have high hopes for a new album....

I like their Eater of Birds quite a lot! I also have Gin but hadn't had the time to really get into it.

It's gonna be hard to "overshadow" Eater of Birds. Although I've never liked Gin. That's great news though, I like their aggressive take on BM.

If you like Cobalt, be sure to check out Minenwerfer. They don't do the progressive experimentation that Cobalt does, but their intensity is on par with Cobalt, and the composition/riffs are really good. I can't look at Bandcamp from here, but from what I remember, their albums are fairly cheap and/or free.

I was there! They actually did two new songs in their second set. I seriously cannot wait for the new record... It's gonna be pretty dark.

[edit] Apparently, they even did three! I thought they were two long songs.. Either way, awesome as the new songs were, for me a big part of the enjoyment of Yob's music is not only the brilliant build-up, but the anticipation of knowing where it leads! It seemed this was also the case for the rest of the audience, because when they played "Adrift in the Ocean", "Atma" and "Quantum Mystic" after the new songs, the whole place went mental. :)
