The new morbus chron is kinda like the last gorguts, a well recorded experimental death record. I bet you'll like it

Cool.

Agree with all the raves on the new Trypticon. I like it a lot more than their first album, and I thought the first release was really good at the time.  It's a real tour de force. The first album felt like a doom album in some ways-which is cool-I love doom. This just feels more cohesive, more varied in style and mood(s). I really like the production. Once in my crappy van stereo (if something sounds good in my van-it must be REALLY good cause the sound sucks)  and once on my stereo and with HP's. A lot of really interesting twists and nuances.  If it weren't for the vocals which I very much like-I think it might appeal to a lot of non metal fans as well. Just a really good, dark album.

I'm looking forward to checking out Morbus Chron based on a of praise here and elsewhere...and Opeth.

It is by far my favorite of the year so far. It's nice everyone likes it here. smily_headphones1.gif

Totally forgot to post this new Dillenger Escape Plan single that came out a while ago, pretty solid song. Only available on vinyl on their current tour though unfortunately

More love for the new Tryptikon... these guys don't hand out high scores too often:

I bought Sweven today... so far it's pretty boring. I've only listened to it once while I was working, so I will give it some more listens in different moods.

BREAK

I take that back, I just listened to It Stretches in the Hollow and Ripening Life without any distractions, and wow, this is some bleak death metal. I think I had wrong expectations (brutal, heavy, etc). Bleak, disconcerting, discordant are better expectations.

Gee, it must be a good record then

I noticed Pitchfork gave it more of a subdued review basically saying it lacks in quality compared to the first release. Every other review I've seen gives this one the edge...I definitely do.

Finally got some alone time to hit the big hi-fi

First up...the new triptykon for a 'proper' listen. Then sweven, cause it deserves some ear splitting volume. Then some hip hop LOL

Oh you mean the review that hails said record as a modern day classic....score: 7.2?

Those reviews?

A new contester for the title of Best Underground Black Metal Album 2014!

It's "free" and sounds pretty great with its DR8 :)

Big news! Cobalt on Facebook:

"In the end, all one ever experiences is one's self.
Erik and I have had a rocky last few years due to extreme personal experience. I cant discredit him for his profound personal development, considering that I have been elusive due to my nature as well.
We have spoken and a new Cobalt album will be recorded, and will be massive and overshadow everthing we,and many others, have ever done."

...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Cheers!
