I haven't heard anything this weird in quiet some time.

Great news!

From YOBs Facebook page:

We mastered our new album with AUDIOSIEGE in Portland, Oregon. We are thrilled with the result. The master has dynamic range, punch, sounds natural and huge. No volume war, just tonal victory. Thank you Brad!

And more good news!

And I'll finally get to see Deafheaven in August :)

What is this Deafhaven everyone is constantly mentioning? Have I missed something interesting?

You certainly did. One of my absolute favorite bands.
Their music is pretty much a love-it-or-hate-it thing.

Everything about this album is great. Especially the lyrics and the cover.

I think Bosse-De-Nage - III trumps Sunbather and Cold of Ages. Ohh wait !! I edited above

Lol that's the spirit!

All y'all need to listen to Morbus Chron - Sweven

Another rec from Trogdor, and it's really amazing, unique stuff (and well recorded)

Well, listened to Behemoth's "The Satanist" (I know I'm LTTP). After one listen, I'm not exacly feeling it. May grow on me with spending more time with it, but for now it once again showed that it's not a band for me.

But yeah, from memory it's kinda better than their previous works. Also, maybe it would be one of those bands that don't do much for me on albums, but are great live? I had this with Anthrax - their CDs were OK, but the live recordings were on a totally different level. Hopefully they'll be just as good when I'll see them this summer. :-D

I just discovered this band... it's probably old news for some of you, but for the ones who haven't heard them, check it out:

Anthrax's Persistence of Time from 90 is an old favorite of mine....here are a couple of tracks I used to dig in the day

I never got why Anthrax is part of the Big 4.
Exodus makes way better music IMO and they are totally as influential as Anthrax :/

I mean, listen to this

and then this

I'll bite. Anthrax is honestly more of a commercial success than Exodus.

LOL! Yes good stuff. Rengeteg was my second favorite album of that year (after Epheles).

As Ferday pointed out, the best death metal album of the year thus far:

No question IMO.

They certainly are. For reasons that are beyond me....
Maybe because they are more party-ish? Hmmm that can't be it.
