Someone needs to really tell them that their mix/mastering process is GOD awful.

It's been years, they must like the sound of it.

Stuff like this makes me sad.

AN isn't the first band I'd expect dynamic range from. That being said, they're not known for being that innovative songwriting-wise. I love them still, though.

BTW, Spectral Lore has quietly released samples for their next album. KILLER stuff.

Yeah, we can only hope that the new anaal nathrakh isn't as bad DR wise as Vanitas was...I think that's the only cd that was unbearable to listen to on my new hd800s.

Yeah, I dug that CD A LOT and it is hard for me to listen to (on any system).

Congrats on the HD800s! I owned them for about 6 months before I sold them.

Yeah, I got them in to compare to the SR-009s, we'll see how that goes once I get my 009s from the movers here in another week or so...

No comparison my friend. You'll see! biggrin.gif

The HD800s I found the bass to be a bit lacking and the 6kHz spike is annoying on some tracks. Its imaging is a hit or miss with some people. I liked it, but some feel it sounds artificial.

What the heck are you driving the 009s with? That's my problem with them. I can't justify a Hawaii or some other 7k+ amp for a pair of headphones.

haha I think I may be surprised. At the last meet I went too I got to compare them both, the 009s on my KGSSHV and the 800s on a DNA Sonnet both running from my Master 7 and it was pretty freaking close. I think with a better amp(my Super 7) they might be even better and maybe not able to pass the 009s, but be close enough that I'm willing to part with the 009 system and save the cash. we shall see though :P

I honestly would be shocked if you thought the 800s setup was that close to the 009s. Definitely let us know or let me know - I am curious.

Do you still have the LCD-3s?
