Onslaught has made a comeback. And besides Havoc other bands have created a Thrash mixture like the band Skeletonwitch. Of course there is the ultimate

Blackend Thrash by Bewitched.

Before seeing this movie, I actually had such a dream (going back in time and releasing metal albums :) LOL

Question.. I have not heard Celtic Frost, Apollyon Sun or Hellhammer. Are they similar to Triptykon?

Which other bands sound like them?

The first two albums were perfect.

Lovecraft-themed-old-school-Swedish-death-metal? YES PLEASE!

I just listened to the song Dead Once More and I will be buying their albums. This is really good death metal.

Triptykon is an extension of Celtic Frosts final album. However, anything Celtic Frost before then was much more thrash based. Hellhammer is like.... I don't even know how to describe

Celtic frost is one of those bands that EVERY metalhead has to hear! To mega Therion (1985) was a lot different at the time than anything else. While my favorites are morbid tales and monotheist, I own and love their entire catalog. Even cold lake (widely considered a huge mistake and nothing like any of their other stuff) is fun from a historical point of view. Tom warrior is known for his colossal riffing and pioneering in the death growl

Hellhammer (1981 ish) are now being recognized as one of the major influences on black metal, although their music is nothing like black metal LOL the lyrical themes and atmosphere are very sinister especially compared to the silliness of venom at the time

I only own one Apollyon sun album (sub) it's more industrial metal with classic tom warrior riffing

Don't think I could add any more to that excellent description.

Never really gotten into Celtic Frost and I have not even heard Triptykon (shame on me, probably), but I am going to see them live in two weeks - so that might be a good place to start. :)

St. Vincent loves metal. About a the 10 minute mark she professes her love. I like this woman. For a non metal indie rock album that covers a wide range of styles, I like her new self titled album. And, what's hotter than women who like metal!
