Right on. Immortal will always be cool to me-in no way approaching Manwar except for their self parody which I never understood.

In the early days, the seemed pretty serious about what they did-carefully creating that winterized demonic landscape Blashyrkh vibe. A lot of BM seems about illusion-creating an atmosphere of evil-not unlike a good film-that has you almost believing in their self created mythology or whatever.

Maybe they thought BM got too serious for itself and then they turned their look into a cartoon act.

Yeah, I know. But, I'm not convinced they are really listening to it....maybe some music editing. I can take video of my dogs and add any music I want...doesn't mean the music was actually playing when I shot the video.

For anyone here who does not know about the amazing Immortal side project. http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/I/77619

I purchased this CD the day it came out. I still rate it a 10/10.

+1...don't know how many people have heard this album but it's terrific. I like it better than the last Immortal studio album....(now let me get this name right  )...All Shall Fall.

Gotta love it, man. They sound better than the look....I like them better when I don't have to look at them, cause then I just start laughing like I'm watching the Three Stooges.

Maybe, I was wrong-they are kind of manowarish in an extreme way :beerchug:

The Behemoth album arrived today.

 I rate it a 10 out of a possible 10.
 Why?

First album I have really loved by them. They have left any influence from Morbid Angel and dropped any Death Metal style they may have had. The band has reinvented themselves turning themselves inside out. They will lose 20% of their fan base, mainly due to a 40% drop in tempo over all.

The album has a snake-like groove from start to finish. Gone are any Middle Eastern twangs. In are epic big drums with a ton of reverb and atmosphere. No more world drums, in are full deep classic drums.

In are tempo changes that appear organic and natural. There is nothing pushed or fake in this record. They are who they really are.
We have treble-tone Marduk like bass solos in perfect places. I had a feeling this album was not going to be a let-down.
Pure in originality and walking that thin line, sounding almost rock-opera like and cinematic at times. But staying pure to the Behemoth sound, being experimental and not stupid.

Best release of the year! It is as accessible as a cool glass of water, and just as refreshing.

Don't forget the amazing music video to Blow Your Trumpet Gabriel, and the stylish artwork for the vinyl package. Very inspiring stuff. They finally grew out of their shell and turned PRO. :p

Both bands know exactly what they are doing. Metal doesn't have to take itself seriously

The new Behemoth album sounds like slightly less evil Marduk mixed with some Keep of Kalessin...please don't punch me :-(

It's good, though!
