Catch-33 was my first, probably still my favourite.

Well, I think that is just what happens.

We start listening down one sub-genre and just stick to it. If a band comes around and we here them at the wrong time then it's just not in our time of metal style trajectory so we rebel.

I always try to remember that if bands are big and famous then there must be something to the music?

I purchased a Meshuggah CD in the late 1990s and hated it. My buddy owned the record store and let me return it for a full refund.

In 1998 I listened to Chaosphere and could not get my head around it. They were ahead of their time or I was just behind times?:frown:

Years later I got into Meshuggah.

This is the 2012 album I have been listening to all 2013-14.

I think Catch 33 is many peoples favorite.

1. "Perpetual Black Second"   Tokyo 4:32
2. "Electric Red"   Tokyo 6:02
3. "Rational Gaze"   Tokyo 5:35

5. "Lethargica"   Toronto 5:52

WOW! That will be great.

My ObZen is the only LP I own from those guys. 2X fluorescent orange. ObZen does not sound that great on the official vinyl release from the day? Maybe they will reissue it out better at a latter date. Not really that bad but not great for vinyl?

Now that you have Meshuggah on vinyl you can play it 20% slower, like a DJ.

They really are the experimental french disco of the metal genre.:p

I went for a dog walk the other day with the old px100s on and the first gen shuffle-i had pink floyd animals on.You would think that you were in the front row of the concert.Amazing full bodied sound and crystal clear acoustic guitar parts coming through the left and right ears-crisp cymbals-Bliss.

I accidentally listened to the new Alcest album.
No trace of Metal left.
And you know what?
I couldn't care less!
One of the most beautiful records I've ever listened to. Might even be the most beautiful.
Can't wait for my limited art book edition to arrive!

All the delays, then an EP. now we get a short promo telling us this new album is a manifesto of their philosophy( as if we didn't already know.) I'm not totally even into this band, still knowing this thing will be out February 3rd, is pretty exciting.

Here's a 2012 album that I didn't find until last year and have been constantly listening to since:

Such perfection. I don't know how I missed it.
