Apprec-the term redbook gets thrown around a lot and I just wanted clarification.

Cheers:tongue_smile:

Are you guys Metalsusks haters/lovers?

I kind of enjoy going thru their end of year lists that are out now. I usually get a few ideas from Grim Kim, etc.

I'll start the trash talking. I like the last couple of Machine Head Albums-especially The Blackening-yes I know he "sold out" to Nu Metal a few years ago. But his list is pretty lame.

Are there non redbook CD's that are sold?  My understanding is Redbook just refers to the industry standards/specs. So, whenever you purchase an original CD from a label, store, Amazon, etc. it should be redbook?  Do I have that correct? Vs burning a CD which of course would not be a professional product -just a rip you do with your own gear. So, you go out and pick up the new Carcass or QOTSA or whatever from FYE or Best Buys-there should not a question as to whether its a Red Book CD.....?

Second question-Are today's standard CD players made by reputable companies automatically Redbook players? My assumption would be yes.

Thanks!

Like those dual disks, that have DVD on one side and Cd music on the other. They don't have to be 16bit 44.1 Redbook Audio.

Priest's Angel Of Retribution was that way in the US as well as regular Cd.

I read AMG and Metalbandcamp, but I'll look at MetalSucks for a laugh from time to time. Besides a laugh, I don't like it much. I looked at the MS year lists and found some stuff I didn't know about that looks worth checking out, though. Sacriphyx – The Western Front for instance... Kim makes it sound worth while.

And NoCleanSinging :)

"Read" through all the 2013 top 15 lists on MetalSucks.
Meh.
Nothing really suprising and the only albums that did surprise me, were mostly boring.

The only ones I've ever really liked are Metal Storm and Metal-Fi.
