Beyond jealous, you have no idea...

I saw them live, with Between the Buried and Me AND Animals as Leaders.

I was just playing about Steve Perry. I'm getting used to the vocals.

Not for the casual metal folk.

It's a cool old demo; sadly I've never seen much of it on youtube.

I love the vocals. They have this ethereal vibe without being so cookie-cutter Prog-Metal. By the way, the band reunited and are in the process of making a new album.

Ashe also does vocals in Voices from the Fuselage, also definitely worth checking out.

OMG! Some here. If it's possible to LOVE Altered State and still be torn inside over the new vocals I'm there though. Ashe is a beast though. Found a video of one of  TesseracT's more recent performances. It was concealing fate and Ashe does rough vocals bigsmile_face.gif  for the song and I was impressed. Didn't know he could do that.

I don't listen to a whole lot of stuff from this genre. But bands such as After The Burial, Born Of Osiris, Within The Ruins would be worth checking out. Probably a bit heavier with fewer ambient moments, though.

I've been meaning to look into Ne Obliviscaris.

Crazy enough I've been looking for some Uneven Structures recently, but of course now that I want them the F.Y.E.s here have been hit up tongue.gif

Will definitely try these recommendations. Someone posted some Kalmah and it has some potential.

Never have listened to that one myself, but I enjoyed Enthrone Darkness Triumphant even though black metal is not my thing.

Same here. I have been really enjoying some October Falls lately though. And of course the influences that Agalloch bring forth in their music. Both excellent bands.

Oh yea, and some In the Woods..., although they weren't your typical BM band.

That single album propelled Black Metal to an almost mainstream level when it was released. One of my favorites of all time!

I suggest caution when telling Faust not to cover Floyd songs. At least to his face.

Eithun was convicted of murdering Magne Andreassen, a gay man, by fatally stabbing him in Lillehammer Norway on 21 August 1992. The murder occurred near the park which eventually held the opening ceremonies of the 1994 Winter Olympic Games. Faust was sentenced to fourteen years imprisonment, but was released in 2003 after serving nine years and four months.

The original release is better than the rerecording. Funny though they actually had to leave some songs out of the rerecording as the original tunes were plagiarized when introduced to the band by their original keyboardist.

I never really liked the sound of the original CD release but the music is great.beerchug.gif

To be honest, that's just the kind of crap that gives Metal a bad name... particularly BM. I don't know the reasons behind the killing, so I can't comment on his intentions. But that and the church burnings.... where's the love, man? Melancholia can be beautiful and expressive, but there's a huge difference between that and straight wickedness.

Hey! There's a dang hippy in the Metal Thread! cool.gif

There's a whole bunch of reasons in black metal why you as a listener want to learn to separate music from man.
